Vanessa + Andre [The 1909 Wedding]
TOPANGA CANYON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
The 1909 is a gorgeous venue located in the natural beauty that is Topanga Canyon. Handsomely maintained and nestled along a hillside amongst the trees, the private location is the perfect escape from the urban sprawl of Los Angeles. Andre and Vanessa chose to stage their ceremony on the central amphiteater, allowing their guests to observe from the surround of terrace seating. The light flooding through the hills that time of day was warm and golden, and made for some really wonderful perspectives of the event.
I had the pleasure of photographing Vanessa's brother's wedding a short while back, and it was wonderful seeing so many familiar faces at this event. Vanessa and Andre were consistently at ease, and it's exactly that sort of comfort level that makes for some of the most natural moments on film.
In addition to post-ceremony bride and groom portraits, I also encourage couples to slip away briefly late in the reception for some nighttime photography outside the venue. Artificial light permitting, night photography can make for some really intimate moments, and The 1909 was perfect for just this sort of picture making.
Andre and Vanessa, thank you for being so welcoming! It was a treat working with you and your family. And I appreciate the night cap! Congratulations again! P.S. -- so great to see your wedding images highlighted on The 1909's webpage here.
