Alejandra + Julian [Westin Bonaventure Hotel Wedding]

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

What a view!

Atop downtown's Westin Bonaventure Hotel, city lights casting a violet hue across the dewy haze of night. Chances are, even if you've never stepped foot in this glimmering Los Angeles icon, you've caught a glimpse of it on the big screen. John Carpenter filmed it with a whole lotta shakin' going on. Johnny Depp bested Walken here just in the Nick Of Time.  Eastwood made Malkovich's day after assisting him in a swan dive from one of the tower's glass elevators. Fun fiction, for sure. And yet tonight, it was our turn to roam the halls and explore the rooftops of this urban landmark, as Julian and Alejandra partied in style, capping off a truly heartfelt day in the world of the real.

I have to say, I'm not sure where the year went exactly, but it seems like only yesterday I was first meeting Julian and Alejandra at Coffee Bean, sharing in their wedding plans and ruminating of what was to be. Fast forward, and there I was, photographing the beginnings of Alejandra's day at the Arcadia Embassy Suites, and, only hours later, watching her drift gracefully down the aisle of Monrovia's Immaculate Conception Church to join Julian in an afternoon of union and celebration. Tick tock, and with the close of the day's clock, the Mariachi belted their swan song, and the first chapter of bride and groom was well underway.

As I write this blog post, I sit in the exact same Coffee Bean -- hot chocolate now instead of ice blended -- awaiting introductions with a new prospective couple, a new beginning. It's a wonderful cycle... challenging, fresh, and always personal... and I can't help but grin to be a part of it. Thanks again, Julian and Alejandra. It was a fantastic day and a killer view, but hey, this cityscape ain't got nothing without you two in it!
