If you’re game for a photo session at the beach in the winter, then I’m game for a photo session at the beach in the winter! After all, if Boston’s L Street Brownies can pull off their annual polar plunge into the Atlantic on New Year’s Day, then hey, what’s a portrait shoot on the sands in January or February? Not to mention, with the temperatures and conditions varying wildly from day to day, you stand a really good chance of scoring some reasonably comfortable weather this time of year.

A+K were celebrating their anniversary and wanted to commemorate the occasion with their beautiful Irish Setter at Salisbury Beach. We all kept plenty warm keeping up with our four-legged companion as he tore through the sand and frolicked along the water. What dog wouldn’t delight in having free range on an empty beach?

A few tips to enjoy your session during cooler weather: wear thermals under your photo-facing threads. Insulate with double socks & choose footwear for stomping in the snow or damp sand. Incorporate hats, scarfs, shawls, blankets, or snug vests. And if you’re lucky enough to bring along your dog, hug him or her tight and relish the collective warmth!
