BOSTON ENGAGEMENT PROPOSAL PHOTOGRAPHER

I love photographing surprise proposals. For one, they’re sneaky in that fun sort of way. There I stand, pretending to take snapshots of my surroundings, all the while stealing peripheral peeks at the couple as they approach. There’s also the planning and forethought well before the day of the shoot: taking into account the location, the light, and even the wind to ensure your significant other’s hair isn’t blowing over their expression. And, of course, there’s the big moment itself, adrenaline pumping — even my own. Jake knew just how much the Crane Estate meant to Carole, and to be invited to document his proposal at Castle Hill truly meant the world.

If you’ve been thinking of having pictures taken of your surprise proposal, always consider the possibilities of extending photography beyond the big moment itself into a longer engagement session. After the big “Yes!” spirits are high and the post-proposal euphoria is real, all of this making for a very unique energy that’s wonderful to capture. Lots of smiles and laughs, that’s for sure. Jake, Carole, and I spent nearly 90 minutes together at Crane Estate, and I’m so glad I had the chance to meet these two and share in their joy. Definitely an afternoon I’ll remember!
